Johnathan Lee is the Executive Director of Academy in the Malaysian Global Innovation and Creativity Centre (MaGIC). This division offers education/training courses, global ecosystem exposure and also South East Asia's leading accelerator program to a global entrepreneurs and start-up community.
Johnathan comes from a diverse background with over 18 years in commercial and investment experience in various industries ranging from finance, healthcare and education. He holds a Masters in Entrepreneurship and a Bachelor of Commerce from Otago School of Business.
Having spent his formative years in New Zealand, Johnathan was engaged by incubators and investors to focus on fast business growth, as well as, securing investments for companies. He strongly believes that a combination of factors including a strong team, a good business model and proper execution, along with financial support are vital to grow a successful business.
Previously, Johnathan was the Head of Business Development Division for one of Malaysia's largest public listed tech company - MyEG Services. Apart from developing business opportunities for the company, he was part of the Investor Relations' team and also oversaw MyEG Capital's investments.
Prior to joining MyEG, Johnathan was a senior management team member at Cradle Fund (Cradle), an early stage technology grant, where he led the advisory team. Under his leadership, Cradle was acknowledged in the industry for having one of the highest commercialisation rates for its investments.
