19 September 2017 | Grand Hyatt, Kuala Lumpur

The AVCJ Malaysia Forum, brought together over 150 of Asia's leading PE professionals and business executives on September 19, for a day of thought-provoking discussions and updates on how the market is evolving. Sessions looked at what the industry must do to continue to attract investors, deliver returns, and help Malaysian businesses grow. Attendees came from around the southeast Asia region, and we heard from 30 of the most experienced and well-respected players on private equity, venture capital, value creation, the consumer sector opportunity in Southeast Asia, and the role of M&A in private equity.

The Forum was opened by YBhg Dato' Mohamad Nasir Ab. Latif, Deputy Chief Executive Officer, EMPLOYEES PROVIDENT FUND. EQT and L Catterton also delivered presentations on value creation and the consumer sector.

We look forward to the continuation of the Malaysian Private Equity Forum next year.

Value Creation: Unleashing value in ASEAN companies

"Fantastic sessions, great insights from some of the best GPs and LPs in Asia."

David Gowdey, Managing Partner, JUNGLE VENTURES

"It was a great audience who are professional and genuinely interested in what the speakers have to say that will impact their own businesses. I enjoyed my time speaking and mingling."

Jeffrey Paine, Founding Partner, GOLDEN GATE VENTURES

"AVCJ has consistently been a top PE and VC organization across Asia. I like the fact that AVCJ has several regional conferences in addition to the main one in Hong Kong, so the regional GP/LPs, as well as service partners, have several opportunities to connect through the year. I also like the increasing focus on value creation, which is going to be the only thing that separates those generating an IRR from those living off the 2% fund fees."

Ash Mathradas, Managing Director, ALVAREZ & MARSAL

"The conference had a good mix of speakers/panellists and covered a wide range of topics of interest, which in my mind kept the participants interested."

George Koshy, Partner, ERNST & YOUNG
